Washington Commanders Super Bowl Odds Soar After Carson Wentz Trade

After just one season in the AFC, Carson Wentz will return to the NFC East.

Indianapolis Colts Traded Carson Wentz and a Second Pick for the Washington Commanders for the second and third round selection packages reported in the next two seasons.

While the Commanders may feel that their quarterback problem is now resolved, the Vegas oddsmakers vehemently disagree.

Before trading, Washington is +6000 (60/1) at WynnBET to win the Super Bowl. After the trade, that odds dropped to +7500. Wentz, at least in the odds charts, spoiled Washington’s future without launching a single pass.

WynnBET senior trading manager Alan Berg told BetSided they initially hung Washington’s number low due to the possibility of picking a quarterback that made sense, but Wentz didn’t fit the description.

“We underestimated because there could be an improvement in midfield. I don’t know what the coaches or staff are thinking about this move. To me, it seems hopeless. So we moved them higher on our board. ”

Throughout his career, Wentz struggled in Washington. He is SU 2-2, while throwing 7 touchdowns, 3 interceptions and has been fired 17 times.

The Commanders’ choice to acquire Wentz was a huge undertaking, as they now receive his entire salary. This is a huge upheaval for a team that has been looking for a franchise quarterback for over a decade.

Last season, Wentz finished with 3,563 yards, 27 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Those numbers are decent, but he also led the Colts to a 9-8 record, losing to last place Jacksonville Jaguars in the final week of the season with the knockouts.

Indianapolis is, at least on paper, a great situation for Wentz. He has his former offensive coordinator at Frank Reich as head coach, a great attacking line, a functioning game and a solid defence. His ceiling seems to be the highest compared to Colt’s, which may have been what gave Colts fans pause.

Although they missed the playoffs last season, Washington has been to the post-season once with Ron Rivera and these core players. Wentz is entering a situation where he will be asked to elevate the players around him. However, he was unable to do it in Indianapolis.

Washington is taking a risk, and so far, Vegas considers it a stupid thing to do.
