Vicente Luque has his eye on everyone at welterweight right now. He is ready to face Belal Muhammad in the upcoming edition of UFC on ESPN this weekend.

Additionally, this isn’t the first time the pair have faced each other in the octagon. They last met at UFC 205 where Luque won via KO. This is an extremely important duel as the future of the division can be affected by this fight.

It was previously speculated that the fight between Muhammad and Luque will decide the number one. But now that Chimaev has won at UFC 273 things have changed and it’s still not confirmed who will challenge Kamaru Usman next.

Prior to his fight against Muhammad, Vicente Luque appeared at the UFC ESPN 34 Media Day. During the interaction, the fighter was asked to give his opinion on the fight between fellow welterweight Chimaev and Covington.

Luque revealed that the fight between Covington and Chimaev is very interesting. The fighter stated that Covington has the ability to tire out his opponents and the fight will surely last five rounds. According to Luque, the fight for ‘The Borz’ will be tougher than against Gilbert Burns. In the end, the fighter asked to see more action from Chimaev.

That’s interesting, you know, him and Colby. Colby is, I don’t know, he can fuck up guys and that would definitely be five rounds. So I think it would be much more difficult for Khamzat. But we will see. I don’t know, I still want to see more of him.” said Vicente Luque.

Before the fight with Burns, Chimaev was just a hype train for his future opponents. But now after what happened at UFC 273 others are starting to take him more seriously and the same goes for Luque who is ranked No. 5. Anyhow, it’ll be interesting to see how this killer-ridden division plays out in the end.
