Wake Forest shook off its first loss of the season with a 45-42 home win over North Carolina State last week. Sam Hartman led the attack with a total of four touchdowns while the defense forced three conversions and kept NC State three conversions for the third time in 14 attempts.
The Demon Deacons were once again in control of their fate in the ACC Atlantic and were able to win either of their last two games. The first chance was on the road at Clemson, where Wake Forest opened up as a 3.5-point loser. This game will be on ESPN at noon ET.
Sure enough, Clemson scored 44 points in a single UConn entry. But there’s hardly anything to get excited about here. DJ Uiagalelei was 21st out of 44 passes with 241 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Clemson’s QBs combined to go 27/57 in the air while the ground game averaged 3.1 yards per take. The Tigers need a win to avoid missing the ACC Championship Match for the first time since 2014, and there’s no clearer reason for their impending absence than a mediocre foul in a weak ACC. Clemson’s defensive ability can annoy Wake Forest a bit, but there’s nothing about this offensive move that should convince you to bet on the Tigers here.
