BALTIMORE (WJZ) – Erlease Wagner, associate director of athletics at Morgan State University, will lead the department on an interim basis following the departure of Edward Scott, president David K. Wilson announced Tuesday.
“Erlease is a highly capable individual who is capable and interested in the success of our student-athletes, and her leadership is unquestionable,” says Wilson. “She has the full support of the University as well as my confidence in her ability to continue to achieve the very best of the Department of Sport until a vice president and general manager. newly appointed sport.”

Wagner has served as deputy athletic director since 2017 and she is an administrator for the women’s soccer and basketball teams.
One of her first moves will be to name an interim head football coach after Tyrone Wheatley was hired by the Denver Broncos as a support coach.

“I thank President Wilson for the opportunity to lead the sport during this transition, and Dr Scott for his guidance and dedication to Morgan State Sports,” said Wagner. “I look forward to working closely with our student-athletes, athletic staff, and the university community during this leadership change in athletics.”
After joining Morgan State as the Senior Assistant Director of Compliance and Women’s Management in 2015, Wagner served as interim director of athletics for several months following Floyd Kerr’s retirement. Scott was hired in October 2016.

Wagner graduated in law from the University of Richmond. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Slavic literature and languages from the University of Virginia and did graduate studies at Florida State University and St.Petersburg State University in Russia.
