A witness offered O’Connell help, but the 26-year-old declined.

Specialized police units, including missing persons and forensic scientists, have joined a team of about 50 people searching bushland along the highway near where he was last seen.
This week’s search will take place on Thursday and Friday and was prompted after more witnesses reported information about other sightings of the missing person.
“These areas were not searched when we originally searched for him,” Detective Sergeant Gareth Reid said Thursday.
“Today is about making sure those areas have been covered and trying to find any information or items that might help with the investigation.”
Det-Sgt Reid said clothing and other items one would not expect to find in the bush could prove helpful.
O’Connell is described as 188 cm tall with a slim build, brown hair and green eyes.
Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers.
