Vincent Iorio excited on Team Canada’s selection night

Vincent Iorio, the Washington Capitals second round draft selection in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, really looking forward to December. Iorio has been invited to Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp, which opens in Calgary, Alberta on Thursday. .
“I am very excited,” Iorio talking about the invitation. “Obviously it will be a challenge but the ultimate goal for Ridly (Grieg) and I is to build the team and help the team as much as we can. We really look forward to it and are working hard to be a part of that team. ”
The national team consists of three goalkeepers, who formed the team, 11 defenders and 21 strikers. Iorio will depart for Calgary shortly after the Wheat Kings game against the Moose Jaw Warriors on Wednesday night.
“It’s a bit of a fantasy,” Iorio said. “You watch juniors around the world growing up as children wearing the same Maple Leaf sweater you wore as a kid. To be able to be a part of a camp like this… I was speechless. ”
Iorio, who turned 19 three weeks ago, is in his fourth season with Brandon Wheat Kings and has 51 points in 151 regular-season WHL games.
How are the Swedes?
In other Capitals news heading into the World Youth Championship, striker Oskar Magnusson, drafted by the Capitals in the seventh round of the 2020 NHL entry draft, was announced on Wednesday. Privately, he has been invited to Team Sweden’s Junior selection camp starting this weekend.
The 2022 World Youth Championship begins on December 26.
