Villagers & Heroes will finally launch indoor apartments in early 2023

We have not reviewed the indie MMO Villagers & Heroes since the Halloween celebrations, and honestly, our last close look at the game in 2021 came back. Major updates and announcements have been quiet, and apparently we weren’t the only ones noticing, as Mad Otter’s first developer entry of the year addresses the revival of the game’s newsletter as well as what players can expect from 2023 onwards.

The most intriguing part of the post is a teaser for what the company calls the “most requested feature of”. VH Players of All Time”: Inner Case. In fact, we first reported on Mad Otter’s living space expansion plan in 2015, and developers began teasing him again last year. The game already had houses in neat little neighborhoods, along with warehouses and farms, but players couldn’t actually enter their houses. That will finally change in “Early 2023”, with customization options for naming houses, setting house access, and adding furniture and masonry, lighting, floors, walls, windows, etc. Of course, this also means nearly a hundred new recipes for crafters, although some items will be available for currency and in the cash shop.

Mad Otter goes on to say that the first major feature of the year – a redesigned Cash Shop – went live as of this week, and if I recall correctly this is something the game needed very badly as it was hard to find something to find, and it got even harder still to grok what you were looking at. Phase two of the redesign will appear to consist of automated daily sales and new exclusive items, all clearly aimed at getting players into the cash shop and buying stuff.

There’s more to the blog, including class balancing updates, mana potion reworks, and new hires for the team.
