Sean O’Malley and Cody Garbrandt may not be fighting each other at UFC 269, but the two almost got into a fight during Thursday’s pre-fight press conference at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Both fighters had to be kept separate after ‘Suga’ challenged ‘No Love’ with a performance after an interesting back and forth on the main stage.
“Tomorrow I will weigh in and fight with you at and still kick your ass,” Garbrandt nods toward O’Malley (h/t Damon Martin of MMA Fighting). “You work easily, but I don’t worry about you. I am focusing on Kai Karla France. You’ve got Raulian to worry about. ”
“That’s stupid,” O’Malley countered. “Why would you do that? You sound a little nervous. Dana [White], will Cody and I be able to solve the problem in the future? “
O’Malley is set to face bantamweight prospect Raulian Paiva to start while Garbrandt – a former 135-pound champion – will make his flyweight debut against Kai Kara-France.
UFC 269: Oliveira vs. Poirier takes place this Saturday, December 11, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
