Venus and Serena Williams received a rousing standing ovation from fans ahead of their doubles match at the US Open on Thursday.
It’s been eight years since Venus and Serena Williams teamed up for a doubles game at Flushing Meadows. They’re rewinding time this week by joining forces for what might be their final time.
On Thursday, the sisters took the court at the US Open and received a huge ovation from the fans at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Fans have been showing Serena incredible love all week as she has decided to “evolve” away from tennis. The energy on display for both sisters was palpable.

Thursday’s match could be the last time the Williams sisters play together, so naturally the event was a hot ticket. If they’re eliminated, that’s it. If not, they’ll no doubt continue to garner that kind of admiration.
Venus was eliminated in the first round of the singles competition, but Williams has extended her stay by picking up victories in the first two rounds. including a surprise from world No. 2 Anett Kontaveit on Wednesday.
Venus and Serena last even played doubles in a Grand Slam in 2018. This is their first team at the US Open since 2014.
