Variety wins three Eddie & Ozzie Awards for website and photography

diversity received three Eddie & Ozzie Awards for excellent editorial design on the evening of September 13th. Presented by Folio, the winners and special mentions were announced at this year’s gala event at City Winery New York.

The publication won the Eddie Award for website in the business-to-business category. Honorable Mentions in this category included SevenFifty Daily, Fierce Pharma and Strategy+Business.

diversity also won the Ozzie Award for Best Photography, Business-to-Business for the cover of ‘Power of Women 2021’ starring Michaela Coel, creator of ‘I May Destroy You’. Written by senior entertainment writer Angelique Jackson, the cover story followed Coel’s shift in focus to new stories following the success of the HBO limited series. Coel won an Emmy Award in the Writing category for a limited series for the show in 2021.

diversity is Assistant Music Editor Jem Aswad won an Eddie Award for breadth of work by a single writer in the business-to-business space. His collection of work includes coverage of the music industry’s multi-billion dollar battle for music streaming royalties, coverage of awards shows, as well as various industry reorganizations. diversity is Associate editor Ramin Setoodeh received an honorable mention in this category after winning the award last year. His submissions included a portrait of Halle Berry on her directorial debut, Bruised; a cover story about Latin music megastar Maluma; and interviews with Cara Delevingne and Melissa Etheridge for diversity is theme pride.

Film critic Owen Gleiberman received an honorable mention in the Essays and Critiques for Business-to-Business category, as did then-editor Claudia Eller’s Leaving the Kingdom magazine, which competed in the full issue award, media & entertainment. diversity is The streaming series The Take, presented by Apple TV+ and hosted by Chief Correspondent Elizabeth Wagmeister and Senior Awards Editor Clayton Davis, was a finalist for video.
