Urban Meyer returns to old places of activity for the 2022 season

After a disastrous tenure in the NFL, Urban Meyer returns to the collegiate scene, back to Fox Sports as a college football analyst.

Apparently Urban Meyer needs the Capital One Rewards credit card. He has accumulated many miles through travel. Now he’s home again Fox sports. The former Jacksonville Jaguars coach returns to the network as a college football analyst, the same role he held before leaving for Jacksonville.

Let’s just say his tenure at DUVAL was eerily similar to Bobby Petrino. Okay, it was actually worse. Kicking a player and then the infamous pub video? But enough of that. Meyer is back in college football, and despite the scandals that have raged, wherever he has been there has been winning and plenty of it.

Time at the University of Florida led to two national championships, and then the inaugural season of the college football playoffs culminated in a championship for Meyer and the Ohio State Buckeyes. After a 2018 Rose Bowl win over Washington, Meyer left the college sidelines and became an analyst before moving to Jacksonville in 2021.

Some coaches are said to be college coaches, and Urban Meyer is one of them. He won, and the credentials speak for themselves, including the players he sent to the NFL, many of whom are stars of the game today (Ezekiel Elliott, Joey and Nick Bosa, and Michael Thomas).

As an analyst, Meyer wasn’t all that bad either. He seemed easygoing and talked well on TV, so you can’t blame FOX for bringing him on board. However, by the time he got to Jacksonville, everything was heading south, and disaster was never far away. The Jaguars did the right thing by letting him go and now he’s back home.

Meyer has returned to college football history as an analyst for FOX Sports. Dorothy once said, “There’s no place like home,” and Meyer understands that now more than ever. Don’t expect him to leave that role again, but then again, we don’t know what might be lurking behind the scenes.
