Unusual heat Saturday, highs in mid-90s – CBS Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Friday was our first day of 90 degrees this year and also the hottest day so far, which will be followed by even hotter air tomorrow.
With plenty of sunshine expected on Preakness Saturday, we expect the temperature to start in the low to mid 70s but rise quickly to the low 90s by early afternoon. At 3 or 4pm tomorrow we could hit the record high which is 96 degrees set way back in 1934.

We do not expect any shower activity tomorrow but that is likely to change on Sunday. A cold front will cross the region later in the afternoon or evening, likely resulting in a series of strong to severe thunderstorms developing before much cooler air can move in Monday.
Low 90’s are still available on Sunday and both Saturday and Sunday our heat index can hit the high 90’s to almost 100 degrees.
It is an alert day on Saturday due to the high temperatures and unusually unusual heat that we will be experiencing.

Outdoor caution is strongly advised, such as B. staying in the shade, reducing outdoor activities, wearing light, loose-fitting clothing, and drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated.
Great relief with much cooler temperatures will follow Monday and most of next week.
Enjoy the weekend and be careful in the heat!
