UNC vs UCLA Predictions and Odds for NCAA Sweet Sixteen Tournament

A battle between the greens will take place for the Sweet Round of 16 of the 2022 NCAA Tournament as Team 8 UNC will face Team No. 4 UCLA.

UNC started the tournament 95-63 against Marquette, and it was followed by a nasty win over No. 1 Baylor, making the Bears the first No. 1 seed to lose in the tournament. Meanwhile, UCLA survived a terrifying showdown with Akron in the opening round, but a late rise allowed them to overtake Saint Mary’s in Round 32.

The following is odds via WynnBET for the upcoming match 16 on Friday.

UCLA

UNC’s biggest weakness all season has been defensively, but that’s exactly where they’ve thrived since the start of the NCAA Tournament. The Tarheels’ opponents’ average shooting rate this season is 42.8%, but in their last three games that number has dropped to 37.4%, which proves they’ve dominated. How to treat in March Madness.

They should be able to maintain that momentum against a UCLA team that ranks 146th this season in effective goal-to-field ratio. That’s especially the case considering UCLA keeps its offense majority low, ranking 48th in two-point shot rate, which should play into UNC’s strength.

This game has all the elements of must-watch TV, but I give UNC the edge so I’m happy they got 2.5.

Select: UNC +2.5 (-110)
