‘Umbrella Academy’ Star Joins Natasha Lyonne Series ‘Poker Face’

David Castañeda is the latest addition to the cast of Natasha Lyonne & Rian Johnson’s ‘Poker Face’ series at Peacock, diversity only learned.

Lyonne will direct the drama series, which will also star alongside Castañeda, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Stephanie Hsu. Plot and character details for the series are largely under wraps, although sources say the show will follow a procedural format and Lyonne’s character works to solve various murders in each episode.

Castañeda is best known for his role in the hit Netflix series The Umbrella Academy, in which he plays Diego. The show’s third season is scheduled for release on June 22nd. His other TV appearances include “Blindspot” and “Southland,” while in August 2021 it was announced that he would be starring in Season 2 of the Roku series Most Dangerous alongside Christoph Waltz. “He’s also starred in Films such as “Sicario: Day of the Soldado”, “The Tax Collector”, “End of Watch” and “The Guilty” on Netflix.

He is represented by Buchwald, Stark Management and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis.

“Poker Face” received a 10-episode order from Peacock in March 2021. Johnson created and executive produced the series through T-Street Productions. In addition to starring, Lyonne is producing under the Animal Pictures banner, with Animal Pictures’ Maya Rudolph and Danielle Renfrew Behrens as co-executive producers. Nora and Lilla Zuckerman serve as executive producers and co-showrunners. T-Street’s Ram Bergman and Nena Rodrigue are also executive producers. MRC Television will produce. MRC is a minority investor in T-Street, with a first-look deal for film and television.
