UFC 269 in tweet: Experts react to Charles Oliveira submission of Dustin Poirier in thrilling championship main event
Charles Oliveira cap the UFC’s final view in 2021 with an epic win.
In defending the lightweight championship for the first time, Oliveira showed off her elite grappling ability and submitted Dustin Poirier in the third round of UFC 269 main event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. It was the 10th straight win for Oliveira, with nine of those wins coming by knockout or submission.
Victory is without a doubt the top dog weighing 155 pounds, arguably the most loaded division in all of MMA. And Oliveira wasn’t the only one to make a statement on Saturday night.
Julianna Pena scored one of the biggest shambles in combat sports history in the co-main event, submitting the two division champion Amanda Nunes to become the UFC bantamweight champion.
Also on the main card, Kai Kara-France spoiled former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandtflyweight debut with a beautiful knockout, Sean O’Malley added to his featured reel, and Geoff Neal choose a decisive victory much needed.
