Tyler Lockett did Russell Wilson 1 final favor after much-anticipated return

After Russell Wilson lost his return to Seattle, his former Seahawks teammate Tyler Lockett did him a favor. Turns out Wilson wants to change his pre-snap signals.

Wilson struggled at times against his former team — maybe it was the Seahawks’ and Pete Carroll’s familiarity with his style of play, or the emotion of the moment. The end result was the same: Wilson went 29 of 43 for 342 yards and a touchdown.

Many of those stats were inflated late, although two red-zone turnovers by Broncos running backs essentially forfeited any chance Denver had of winning in the second half.

For example, Lockett noted that Wilson used the same pre-snap hand signals he used in Seattle. The veteran wide receiver relayed that information to the Seahawks defense, which helped them time the snap.

Tyler Lockett does Russell Wilson, Broncos a favor

For the most part, Wilson said all the right things about his time in Seattle. Carroll stoked the flames a little before the game and made it clear how badly he wanted to defeat Wilson.

We can probably attribute that to a competitive advantage.

Now that the moment is over, Lockett made sure to mention Wilson’s hand signal to Broncos wide receivers Courtland Sutton and KJ Hamler.

Week 1 signaled an early stumble for Wilson and Nathaniel Hackett. Maybe Super Bowl or Bust was a bit premature for this team in their first take off together, especially considering we haven’t had to see the end product on the field together yet.

They can move the ball offensively. The key is avoiding major mistakes (like red zone turnovers) and managing the game. Hackett learned the latter point the hard way.
