Two teenagers charged with murder after Underwood was stabbed

Two teenagers have been charged with murder after a man was allegedly stabbed to death in an early morning scuffle in south-east Brisbane.

Queensland Police said on Saturday two boys, aged 15 and 16, had been arrested and charged after the deadly confrontation between two groups in Underwood on Friday just after 1am.

Detective Superintendent Brendan Smith said the 20-year-old man’s death was the result of a chance meeting between the groups and he was convinced the violent incident had no connection to any gang activity.

The victim has been identified as Aiden Rhys Bower-Miles.

The two teenagers were arrested on Friday afternoon when one was located at a shopping center in Helensvale.

Police also seized a black Audi sedan from the center’s parking lot after publicly calling for the vehicle to be seen.

“Certainly the young age of the couple in custody is confronting and the community rightly condemns this type of deadly violence and the police stand with them in condemning what is allegedly a horrific act,” Smith said.

Police previously said the victim appeared to have been stabbed with a bladed weapon during the melee, but did not initially realize he was seriously injured.

The 20-year-old then collapsed and was found unresponsive at the scene, where he was later pronounced dead.

Both teenagers have been denied bail and are due to appear in Brisbane Childrens Court.
