Two children were hospitalized with suspected drug overdoses

Two children have been hospitalized with suspected drug overdoses after they were found unconscious in a house in south-west Sydney.

Concerns were raised for the well-being of the boy and girl and police visited a house in Faithfull Place, Airds, near Campbelltown, around 1.30pm on Wednesday.

NSW Police originally reported the children were five and six years old but have since clarified they are five and four years old respectively

The couple were taken to Children’s Hospital in Westmead, where the boy is in serious condition and the girl is in stable condition, NSW Ambulance said.

NSW Ambulance told 7NEWS it received a call saying the children had been “taking pills”.

Police spoke to a 29-year-old woman at the scene and the investigation continues. A spokesman said the injuries to the children were not believed to have been premeditated.

A crime scene has been set up and police have begun investigating the circumstances of the incident.
