Twitter Responds to Jake Paul vs. Hasim Rahman Jr Cancellation

Twitter memes and reactions were readily available after Jake Paul’s next fight was canceled a week ahead of schedule.

Jake Paul’s sixth fight must be cursed as it was tough to get going. Originally designed to clash with Tommy Fury, this fight has been canceled twice this year. Then, after Fury pulled away from the negotiating table, Hasim Rahman Jr., a former sparring partner of Paul’s, stepped up to fill the fight.

A week before this fight was to take place, however, the fight was waved off. According to a press release from Most Valuable Promotions (a company owned by Jake Paul), Rahman struggled to lose weight, which resulted in the New York State Athletic Commission refusing to sanction the fight at less than 205 pounds, five pounds above the previously agreed by weight. Paul and his team were reportedly willing to compromise to make the fight possible, but according to the MVP’s release, Rahman’s team would not compromise on a weight less than 215.

Twitter had jokes and hot takes after Jake Paul’s next fight was canceled

First, Jake Paul posted a cancellation statement via Twitter, calling out Rahman for unprofessionalism. Rahman and his team have yet to release a statement.

Then Twitter does what it does best: create memes.

The WBC had announced in the run-up to this fight that Jake Paul would officially reach a top 40 finish if he beat Rahman, a decision some boxing fans were very reluctant to make. However, with the fight being canceled and refunds being sent out, Paul will have to wait to earn that coveted WBC rank.
