Twitter reacts to DK Metcalf’s historic extension with the Seahawks

Seattle and DK Metcalf have finally worked out a deal, much to the delight of Seahawk’s Twitter, though people are still wondering who will throw the ball to him.

Seahawk’s Twitter spent the first few days of training camp biting its nails over the contract dispute between DK Metcalf and the team.

Her star receiver wasn’t practicing because he was waiting for a new deal from Seattle.

He finally got it on Thursday as The Seahawks gave him a historic $30 million signing bonus as part of his three-year, $72 million extension. No recipient has ever received such a large signing bonus. Terry McLaurin made a record $28 million just prior to this deal with the Commanders.

His teammates and fans were thrilled with the news.

Metcalf’s former quarterback Russell Wilson also chimed in on the congratulations.

Of course, the fact that Wilson is now in Denver has resulted in the jokes writing themselves at the expense of the Seahawks.

Metcalf could be Jerry Rice’s second coming and Pete Carroll would still have it a problem on offense this year. Drew Lock and Geno Smith compete for the starting spot at training camp. Right now, the best-case scenario for the quarterback in 2022 would be Jimmy Garappolo’s acquisition.

While some laughed at Seattle’s quarterback situation, others wondered what this latest extension of big money for a young wide receiver could mean for the next man in line: Deebo Samuel.

The 49ers receiver was also drafted in 2019 and is also awaiting a payday.

Metcalf is now one of the highest-paid receivers in the league. He’s almost on par with Tyreek Hill in terms of three-year cash. His average pay is just outside the top five, level with the Bills’ Stefon Diggs. Twitter reacts to DK Metcalf’s historic extension with the Seahawks
