Twitter reacts to Alex Martinez’s controversial victory over Clay Collard

MMA Twitter was very divided if not outraged when Alex Martinez preferred Clay Collard at PFL 4

In a highly controversial decision – and it’s not the first time something like this has been said PFL Battle – Alex Martinez caused a fuss over Clay Collard in the Main Event of PFL 4.

As a result of the win, Martinez moves on PFL postseason and eliminates Collard.

Collard got off to a strong start to the fight, processing Martinez with multiple boxing combos that targeted Martinez’s body and clearly damaged it. Collard added a couple of takedowns to the round, although Martinez finished the round in the lead.

That would be a foretaste of what was to come. Although Collard got off to a hot start and knocked Martinez down on the second lap, Martinez’s scrambling resulted in two submission attempts, including a rear-naked choke that looked deep and disconcerting, but Collard was able to escape.

Martinez’s grappling and submission skills gave him more success in the last frame, although Collard was still landing more damaging shots.
