Twitter rages as late goals from Karim Benzema and Rodrygo help Real Madrid advance to the 2021-22 UEFA Champions League semi-finals despite losing the game 3-2 to Chelsea

Real Madrid vs Chelsea

The second leg of the 2021 Champions League quarter-finals between Real Madrid and Chelsea was a smash of a game that saw Los Blancos emerge victorious over the Blues. Although the game ended 3-2 in favor of Chelsea, it was Real Madrid who won it overall. Karim Benzema delivered again and scored the second goal for Real Madrid which they scored 5-4 on aggregate and sent the Spanish side to the semis.

Chelsea started the game brilliantly and dominated most of the game, which didn’t allow Real Madrid to take control. His dominance paid off as Mason Mount opened the scoring, followed by Rudiger and Timo Werner. Real Madrid’s scorers were Rodrygo and Karim Benzema. Chelsea started the game 3-1 against them but turned the tie on its head just before Rodrygo and Benzema dashed their hopes of further Champions League promotion.

Here are some of the tweets that trend on Twitter when fans go nuts in this rollercoaster game ride:

Vinicius Jr put on a great show in Madrid as he dominated the left wing all by himself and put Recce James to sleep as he dribbled past the Chelsea defense several times in the game. He assisted Benzema in the second goal of the night that took them to the 2021-22 UEFA Champions League semi-finals.

Karim Benzema was in the league everywhere and scored alone real Madrid to the next round. He scored a hat-trick in the first leg and scored Madrid’s second goal, taking the aggregate to 5-4 for Los Blancos.

Luka Modric was a gem of a player after setting up Rodrygo for the decisive goal with his superb assist before the end of the game to keep Real Madrid hopes alive. His assist from outside his right shoe is a feast for the eyes. This type of pass should be inducted into the Hall of Fame, as Rodrygo only had to tap the ball in after an inch-perfect assist from Modric.
