Twitter in awe of the incredible match between CM Punk and MJF at AEW Revolution

Twitter was impressed after the brutal dog collar match between CM Punk and MJF at AEW Revolution.

The AEW Revolution map contained many incredible games for fans to see. But perhaps the most anticipated fight of the night was between heated and hated rivals CM Punk and MJF. After MJF defeated Punk on AEW Dynamite last month, Punk earned the right to challenge his opponent to any match. So he chose the most brutal conditions in wrestling history, the dog collar match, at Revolution on March 6th.

After a brutal match, Punk defeated MJF after hitting him into a pile of thumbtacks with Go to Sleep and hitting the latter with the Dynamite Diamond ring provided to him by MJF’s Pinnacle stablemate Wardlow.

Toward the end of the match, MJF Wardlow called to the ring and asked for the Dynamite Diamond Ring. The winner of the Face of the Revolution ladder match earlier that night reached into his pockets but “couldn’t find it”. Punk hit a Go to Sleep to MJF, who fell back first into the turns. It was then that Wardlow revealed that he actually owned the ring, throwing it in the ring and turning his back on MJF.

In the final episode of AEW Dynamite before Revolution, MJF took a page out of Punk’s playbook by using one of Punk’s infamous Ring of Honor promos against him after bloodying him with the Dynamite Diamond ring. At Revolution, Punk entered the ring in his old ROH attire and performed to his old AFI theme song, “Miseria Cantare.”

Punk was the first of the two to draw blood early in the game. After MJF dominated, the veteran was able to gain the upper hand as he wrapped the steel chain around his knee and hit MJF with a Shining Wizard. As a result, MJF bled from his forehead.

Towards the end of the match, Punk couldn’t hit Go to Sleep as his knee gave out. But with the two standing on the ring apron, MJF attempted the Tombstone Piledriver on the ring apron but Punk countered, hitting the move himself.

After a missed diving elbow drop by Punk, MJF went under the ring and pulled out a bag full of thumbtacks. The two dodged several attempts to get thrown into the stack of tacks, but eventually it was Punk who fell on top of them after a top rope superplex.

It was punk, after all, putting MJF in the tacks for a win over the brazen young Superstar. Now it looks like MJF and the remaining members of The Pinnacle will target Wardlow.
