TV actress Sophie Winkleman, who married into the royal family like Meghan Markle, pulls off a brutal takedown in Spectator

A TV actress who has married into Britain’s royal family – like Meghan Markle – has published a brutal takedown in a newspaper op-ed.

Sophie Winkleman – who is married to Lord Frederick Windsor, the Queen’s cousin’s son – issued a dig when writing an article for The Spectator.

Winkleman is known for playing Big Suze on the cult British comedy Peep Show – where she played the “sexy” love interest of one of the two main characters, Jeremy.

In her newspaper article, Winkleman discussed her Christmas plans, which included spending time with “some of Freddie’s relatives in different places.”

“I cherish my growing closeness with senior members of the royal family who are so hardworking, uncomplaining and courageous – and always so good to me – in the face of relentless and brutal media attention, criticism, lies, subversion and fictional television programs are that I am honored to know her,” she wrote.

It’s not the first time Winkleman has defended the royal family.

In an interview with The Times in 2020 – during the height of the Megxit drama that engulfed Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex – she explained: “Not all actresses who join The Firm walk away”.

“I was incredibly welcomed with open arms by everyone,” she said.

“I haven’t had a single negative experience.

“The Queen was wonderful, Prince Charles was wonderful, Prince William was heaven.

“They never blamed me for wanting to play a role.

“Everyone took care of me.”

Winkleman’s revealing new insight came amid reports that Kate, the Princess of Wales, feels “betrayed” over Harry and Meghan’s Netflix docu-series.

Catherine, 40, has been featured throughout the series and trailers – reportedly making friends of the princess and her husband “sick”.

“Kate feels hurt and betrayed that Harry would do the same to her, especially since the couple used to be so close,” a source told Us Weekly on Thursday.

In the meantime, “Prince William has no intention of showing his side of the story or retaliating openly,” the source said.

“He remains dignified and gets on with the work.”

The comments follow previous claims the Welsh couple haven’t seen Harry & Meghan.

“William and Kate’s assistants briefed them on the show, but don’t expect the couple to settle down in their cottage with a bowl of popcorn to tune in,” another source close to the couple told Page Six.
