Atlanta Braves catcher Travis d’Arnaud had a hilarious reaction when he was knocked down by Dee Strange-Gordon on Tuesday.
The Washington Nationals were in the news earlier in the season for frequently knocking down various New York Mets players in their four-game streak. On Tuesday, Atlanta Braves catcher Travis d’Arnaud can say he was hit by a Nationals pitcher’s pitcher.
At the end of the eighth inning, d’Arnaud approached the plate with a runner in first and second place with a 14-3 lead. Washington had positioner Dee Strange-Gordon on the mound for the inning. Strange-Gordon’s 52-mile throw went wide and hit the catcher, who fell to the ground.

d’Arnaud sold that as if he was trying to earn a Best Actor nomination at next year’s Oscars. The theater brought laughter from the commentary booth and dugouts from both the Braves and Nationals.
The Braves defeated the Nationals 16-4 on Tuesday and retaliated for their 11-2 loss Monday night. d’Arnaud finished the game 3v5 at the plate, scoring 3 runs.
