Tracee Ellis Ross can be considered a marketing genius from a fan perspective after the 49-year-old shared a video of the impromptu ad she created for her haircare brand, Pattern.
Pattern, which sells various products for people with naturally curly hair, such as shampoos, conditioners and mousses, was founded in 2018. On August 30, Ross took to Instagram to discuss the benefits potential customers would gain from using the company’s products.
The video begins with Ross swimming in the Mediterranean Sea, fumbling with her lines while trying to promote a non-existent product. She says, “Aqua, for patterns, oh no.” As the clip continued, the “Girlfriends” star was only able to complete her full line twice before showing off a series of glitches.
As she threw her leg in the air, Ross said, “Aqua for Pattern very good for curly coils and tight textures and even the Mediterranean.” After the many glitches, Ross finished the shot by floating away from the area she was in had been before.
Alongside the video, Ross explained that “Vino” was to blame for her many line failures.
In the caption, while thanking everyone who was a part of her impromptu ad, she wrote: “Here’s the PATTERN ad that nobody asked for (and for a product that doesn’t exist). I clearly had too much vino that day. Thank you @kgrupski @mpaganucci and @seenbysharkey for participating in my low rent marketing campaign!”
Upon seeing the post, many expressed how much they loved Ross’ personality and her ability to make others laugh.
“So love your sense of humor!”
“I’m here for EVERYTHING! We didn’t have to ask anything because we didn’t know we needed it! They just kept getting funnier! #Aqua And we love you for that!!!!”
“Whatever this is, I absolutely love it. Your humor and humanity are very appealing. Even in the Mediterranean!”
“Thank you Tracee for inspiring me with such laughter… I can’t stop laughing. You are the best. Loving You.”
