TopGolf with Jets’ Garrett Wilson Requires Protective Gear (Video)

New York Jets first-round pick Garrett Wilson should be a huge asset on the field, but he won’t be joining his teammates’ four-man race anytime soon.
Armed with two first-round picks in the 2022 NFL draftthe New York Jets have executed their plan perfectly as they try to put sophomore quarterback Zach Wilson in the best position for success. First, they gave him some defense help by selecting Sauce Gardner. Then they took Ohio State’s star wide receiver Garrett Wilson with their next pick, which will obviously help Wilson directly.
While he may be a popular target on the Jets offense when they’re on the field, Wilson likely won’t be invited to Wilson’s Saturday scramble team at the local country club anytime soon.
A video of Wilson at TopGolf surfaced on Saturday and it’s a sight to behold.
Not only does the man with a golf club look like he’s completely lost from standing alone, it gets worse when he hits a shot. Quote Lucky Gilmore, “Wow! The bat went further than the ball!”
Jets: Garrett Wilson makes top golf an extreme sport with inexplicable swing, club throw
One lesson for everyone: if you see Garrett Wilson at TopGolf, you probably need a helmet there more than on the football field.
In all seriousness, Wilson wasn’t taken in the first round for his ability to get birdies or bomb it down the fairway. It’s all fun, because there’s plenty of reason to believe he’s far better placed to do the job the Jets are paying him to do, which is to develop a relationship with Wilson and be a catalyst for the New York offense be.
Still, it’s hard to imagine this video not reaching the Jets dressing room sooner rather than later, and Wilson is sure to get some heckling from his new teammates.
