Top Rated Prez: Beterbiev an absolute beast, he will hunt you down and take you down

Top division president Todd DuBoef, WBC promoter, IBF light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev, is keen to get his boxer in the ring with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in 2022.

Beterbiev was back in the ring on Friday in Montreal, where he was forced to defend his title against US Federation Olympic athlete Marcus Browne.

The Russian boxer is a favorite puncher, having stopped all 16 of his opponents from afar.

Canelo, who is currently the undisputed world champion at super-middleweight, is looking to make the leap to cruiserweight for a surprise win over WBC champion Ilunga Makabu.

But, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum can see that the fight is over – because Makabu is first obligated to mount a forced defense against Thabisu Mchunu in January.

Canelo won gold at £175. He moved up to light heavyweight in 2019, when he scored against Sergey Kovalev to win the WBO title – but then he vacated the belt and dropped to 168.

According to Arum, the Mexican star has expressed an interest in facing Beterbiev in 2022.

DuBoef wanted Beterbiev to secure a chance with Canelo, but now Browne is first on the agenda.

“Beterbiev is the opposite of Vasiliy Lomachenko in terms of style,” DuBoef told Sky Sports.

“He’s a force of nature. You can see his guts and stoic behavior. He does incredible strength training. Beterbiev is an absolute beast. He is an absolute beast. will hunt you down, take what you have and take your head off! He’s as excited as anyone. Everyone wants to see him in the ring. The most important thing to him is: what’s next. follow? Will he get shot at Canelo? What are his chances?”–162826 Top Rated Prez: Beterbiev an absolute beast, he will hunt you down and take you down
