Top NHL picks and predictions for today (Two Favorites and one BELOW for March 18)

If you’re like me, you might be looking to bet on something other than March Madness after a tough day of betting yesterday. It’s time for me to return with allegiance, NHL.

With several games set up for tonight’s draw, I’ve identified a few good points that I think are valuable from a betting standpoint. Here are my top three bets for tonight’s action.

All odds listed are through WynnBET Sportsbook.

Just because the Capitals have been so hot lately, doesn’t mean it’s time to start betting on them. The Hurricanes are still one of the best teams in the NHL, and beating them at home is a dangerous move. In each team’s last 10 games, Carolina ranked first in CORSI percentage, sixth in expected goals and fourth in expected goals.

Washington ranks 24th, 17th and sixth in those three statistics, respectively.

Both teams will play in the second leg head-to-head, but the Capitals will attend their second straight line match. It’s Storm or nothing for me tonight.

Select: Storm -150

The Bruins are one of the hottest teams in the NHL, and now is not the time to start dimming them. They are sixth in CORSI% in their last 10 games and continue to be one of the best defensive teams in the NHL. They top in expected goals per 60 minutes, and create the fewest of the most dangerous scoring opportunities.

That should make things difficult for a Jets team with the best average offensive ability this season.

The Bruins beat them 3-2 in their previous meeting this season, and I predict Boston will win much more in tonight’s rematch.

Select: Bruins -115

With Avalanche considered a strong contender and a total score of 6.5, the best play to make is UNDER at -120.

Both teams have struggled in the shooting game in recent weeks, ranking 22nd and 30th in shot rate in their last 25 games. Meanwhile, both rank in the top half of the league in savings rates. Colorado has enjoyed particularly good scoring, topping the list of percentage-saving teams for the same amount of time.

San Jose is also 30th in terms of goals expected per 60 minutes, so it’s surprising to see total goals set at 6.5 for tonight’s game. I wouldn’t be shocked if Avalanche scored five goals and the goals kept happening.

Select: BELOW 6.5 (-120)

Iain is 49-42-2 (+5.09 units) with his NHL pick in 2022. Let’s see Details here. Top NHL picks and predictions for today (Two Favorites and one BELOW for March 18)
