Let’s break down the top five fantasy football pickups for week 3.
Week 2 of the NFL season brought many surprises. The New York Jets made a two-touchdown comeback against the Cleveland Browns in the last two minutes, and the Arizona Cardinals came back from a 20-point deficit against the Las Vegas Raiders.
There were also many notable fantasy performances, including Tua Tagovailoa with a throw for 469 yards and six touchdowns. As a result, there will be many intriguing options for going without wire this week.
With Week 2 of the NFL season officially in the books, let’s take a look at the top five players up for grabs in fantasy football leagues.
5. Darrel Williams, Cardinals of Arizona
Listed: 3.6%
James Conner left Sunday’s game against the Raiders with an ankle injury. In his absence, both Williams and Eno Benjamin saw an increase in usage. Williams had eight carries for 58 yards and one touchdown, and he had two receptions for three yards. Benjamin had eight carries for 31 yards and three receptions for 20 yards.
If Conner misses the time, Williams and Benjamin will both have fantasy value, but Williams is the better option. Both players are expected to continue sharing carries, but Williams should see the lion’s share of the goal-line work. Last season, Williams had 14 carries inside the five-yard line for the Kansas City Chiefs tied for third most in the NFL. Meanwhile, Benjamin had zero carries inside the five-yard line last season. That trend continued Sunday when Williams scored a one-yard touchdown.
Williams has been a prolific fantasy option in the past. Last season, he Beat 20 fantasy points in three different gamesand he recorded double-digit fantasy points in nine singles games.
With Conner out, Williams is an intriguing FLEX option this week that’s somewhat touchdown-dependent. Fantasy owners should monitor Conner’s status throughout the week.
