March Madness continues to march, and some very prominent NCAA basketball coaches continue to add to their impressive NCAA Tournament winning total.
As March Madness continued to advance and the Duke Green Demons continued to defeat their enemies, Mike Krzyzewski continues to add to his already impressive number of NCAA Tournament wins.
Coach KY has more NCAA tournament wins than any other NCAA men’s basketball coach in the history of the sport. Krzyzewski recently made history by becoming the first men’s basketball coach to win 100 games in the NCAA Tournament.
Interestingly, the legendary Duke Blue Devils coach has exactly no real rival when comparing the number of NCAA Tournament wins he has with any of his contemporaries. Although he currently has 100 wins (and that number may continue to grow before he finally retires), there is a very significant gap between the number of wins he has accumulated over the years and the man with the second most wins.
Here are the 10 coaches with the most wins in the history of the Men’s CAA Tournament.
March Madness: Which college basketball coach has the most wins in NCAA Men’s Tournament history?
- Mike Krzyzewski – 100
- Roy Williams – 77
- Dean Smith – 65 years old
- Jim Boeheim – 57
- Tom Izzo – 52
- Jim Calhoun – 49
- John Wooden – 47
- Bill Self – 47
- John Calipari – 46 years old
- Lute Olson – 46 years old
There have been a number of coaching legends throughout the history of NCAA men’s basketball, and this list makes it clear how impressive Krzyzewski’s tenure with the Blues was.
The gap between him and the second-most winners in NCAA tournament history is staggeringly wide and it looks like the record Coach K is setting could stand the test of time. Surely it will be difficult for anyone to surpass that number in the near future.
