Lewis Hamilton made a comeback of sorts at last week’s Spanish GP but there is still work to be done for the seven-time world champion to come back and fight for that eighth world title. Credit must also be given to Mercedes, who did an excellent job in sorting out their ‘porpoise’ issues that were a thorn in both drivers’ sides.
But Lewis Hamilton didn’t have to deal with problems on the track. The Brit was also at a distance when it came to jewelry with the FIA. The Governing Body had decided to get rid of any kind of jewelry while driving in the car to keep safety issues in mind. It’s not something the FIA introduced out of the blue, it’s just a rule being reinforced.
Bur, Lewis Hamilton didn’t take it with open arms and opposed it. To show his dissent, he knowingly wore jewelry on all his fingers before the Miami GP to go with two watches on one hand. This was picked up by the FIA, which later threatened the former champion with a fine for any non-compliance.
Lewis Hamilton intends to focus on his driving rather than the trivial jewelry line
It seems Lewis Hamilton has accepted the decision and just wants to focus on driving. He said, “Honestly, I feel like there’s just way too much time and energy going into it.”
“I’ve said everything I can think of in the last couple of races and that’s not what I’m focusing on this weekend [in Monaco].
“[I’ve been] Every time I’m in the car I take out my studs and I will continue to do so. The nose ring isn’t a problem at the moment.” as reported by Motorsport.
Lewis Hamilton is playing it wisely by not continuing to fight it as he will be the one to lose. The Brit has bigger problems to deal with at this point.
