Tony La Russa appears to nod off during White Sox vs. Royals

The White Sox have had many issues with manager Tony La Russa this season. Now he seems to nod off in the dugout.
That Chicago White Sox had…an interesting season, to say the least, thanks largely to manager Tony La Russa.
They underperformed significantly after their 2021 season when they won the 13-game American League Central with a 93-69 record. They went into August this year with a record of 51-50, but they’re still just two games behind the Minnesota Twins for the AL Central lead.
He’s made many questionable moves with La Russa this season, including intentional Walking Guardians third baseman José Ramírez after getting a hit on him, Trea Turner intentionally walked after getting a 1-2 count on him (and the next hitter, Max Muncy, hit a three-run homer).
Last weekend he was too slow to protect his shortstop Tim Anderson, who was then knocked out of the game and followed him by jostling the home plate umpire.
Morale in the clubhouse has also reportedly dropped. Now La Russa appeared to be dozing off in the first inning of Monday’s game against the Royals.

It might be harmless enough for most managers, but given the troubles Tony La Russa has had for the White Sox this year and his age (he turns 78 later this year), it’s another matter that’s more Will raise eyebrows whether he is or not no longer has the mental and physical stamina to lead a team.
The Hall of Famer has managed six World Series with the Oakland A’s and St. Louis Cardinals and has won three times (1989 with Oakland, 2006 and 2011 with St. Louis). However, he started out with the White Sox when he was their manager from 1979 to 1986 when he was fired midseason. He joined the A’s as manager later that season.
