Tony Khan hired Ryan Nemeth after meeting at Brodie Lee Jr’s birthday party

Ryan Nemeth took an unusual path to All elite wrestling. Hollywood Hunk drank a cup of coffee in the early days of WWE NXT before working on the independent circuit for nearly a decade. A happy coincidence brought him to his current role.

Nemeth says his friendship with Amanda Huber and her husband, Brodie Lee led to a lucky encounter. He’s going to a birthday party for Brodie Lee, Jr. (Dark Order’s -1) met Tony Khan. Ryan told the story on the latest date Unlimited AEW podcasts.

“I showed up to surprise her and the boy at his big birthday party. I was great friends with Amanda and Brodie back in Tampa during the NXT days. They’ve been trying to tell me for a few months that I should come, they’re throwing a birthday party for Brodie Jr, and that I should come over to surprise Amanda and say Hello. I was listening to this and thought that I don’t want to appear at a wrestling promotion that I don’t work for. To me, it was bad etiquette and weird. It would be like, ‘Hey guys, can I have a match?’

I know everyone does it, but I don’t want to do it. I appeared. Brodie Jr didn’t recognize me at all. Back in Tampa years ago, I still babysit every now and then. He’s the funniest little monster ever. He used to run around naked. He tore his clothes, started running around and jumping out of things. That’s when it first bloomed.

I remember Brodie sitting in a chair thinking, ‘He’s gone.’ To see him as a Negative Person, and people say, ‘Yes, always, that’s crazy.’ Amanda said, ‘It’s Ryan. Do you recognize him?’ He was like, ‘No.’ I was so proud and excited when Tony Khan decided that I would be wrestling Hangman Adam Page on Dynamite the next day. ”

Ryan Nemeth made his AEW debut in January in a loss to AEW world champion Hangman Adam Page. Since then, he’s affiliated with The Wingmen, Peter Avalon, and Cezar Bononi. He is brother of WWE superstar Dolph Ziggler.
