Tonga earthquake: 6.7 magnitude quake issues tsunami warning

A magnitude 6.7 earthquake has rattled the sea about 110 km southwest of Hihifo, Tonga, the United States Geological Survey said.

A tsunami advisory has been issued for American Samoa and the earthquake could soon impact nearby shores, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) said.

The quake struck at a depth of 36 kilometers, the USGS said.
