Tampa Bay Buccaneers superstar Tom Brady talkative. But there’s one thing he’s not: A liar.
That was even demonstrated last season when he led the Buccaneers to the Super Bowl title in just his first season with the original side roster. But what made it all the more amazing was the fact that Brady had predicted it.
In a wonderful story of Tom Wertheim of Sports Illustrated, Brady spoke with Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht just minutes before the game, and GOAT blurted out some sort of small talk.
The match took place at Raymond James Stadium (even if the cardboard had filled two-thirds of the seats). No other home team has ever played in a Super Bowl. Brady noticed Licht, walked over, sat down beside him on the bench, smiled, and said simply but surely, “Jason, it’s going to be a great day.”
Is that Brady’s version of sliding into the DM?
As he envisioned, Brady and the Buccaneers had a great day, beating Chief of Kansas City for the crown. Many people don’t predict 576-year-old Brady will get the job done because he’s, well, 576. But again, he shut up everyone.
Maybe Brady was just getting excited talking to Licht. Maybe he’s stressed. Maybe he was—no.
Surprise, surprise, the Buccaneers are well positioned to take home a second consecutive Super Bowl title. So, Licht, you just have to wait for that Brady smile.
