We had a disappointing night 1-2 with NHL picks on Mondaybut luckily our winner was the thrilling +175 defeat in the Los Angeles Kings, who drew it with the late Bruins before eventually winning in extra time.
Get back on track tonight with a stack of NHL action. All odds listed below are through WynnBET Sportsbook.
I don’t want to think that playing two nights in a row seriously hinders an NHL team, so I’m going to the Panthers as an pick tonight on the road in Pittsburgh.
In their last 25 games, the Panthers are second in CORSI rate, and top in goals expected per 60 minutes with a staggering 3.74. They aren’t quite as defensive, ranking 12th in expected goals per 60 minutes, but that’s just two places behind the Penguins, who are 10th in that stat.
One key difference between these two teams is the rate of fire. The Panthers are one of the best shooters in the NHL, coming in second in that stat, finding the back of the net on 12.16% of their shots. Penguins rank in the bottom half of the NHL, only 19th in shot rate.
Too many stats in Florida’s favor scare me when it’s the second leg of the group stage.
Select: Panthers -110
The Nashville Predators have been in bad shape in recent weeks, and I will try to find ways to support the Stars as the underdogs.
In their last 25 games, the Predators are 26th in CORSI ratio, 24th in expected goals per 60 minutes and 27th in expected goals per 60 minutes. These numbers don’t sound like the numbers a team should have in a playoff race.
The Stars, on the other hand, rank 15th, fifth, and sixth in those three stats, leagues higher than the Preds, but they’re +115 lower.
This bet is a no-brainer for me.
Select: Star +115
Listen, if you keep giving me Flames with favorable odds, I’m forced to keep betting on them. I have been a leader in the “Flames are the rivals” camp since the beginning of 2022 and I have only been proven right since then.
The Flames are the hottest team in the NHL, and it’s no coincidence or luck. In the last 25 games, they are third in the NHL in terms of CORSI%, third in expected goals per 60 minutes and third in expected goals per 60 minutes. Their acquisition of Tyler Toffoli is the final piece of the puzzle for Calgary. They need a goalscorer, and the former Canadien player has done it, scoring seven goals in 10 games since being bought by Flames.
Are they only mildly favorites at home now against a Capital team that hasn’t found a foothold since December? Yes. Please.
Select: Flame -130
