To the relief of fans, Persona 5 Royal and more are coming to Nintendo Switch

Fans only expected a handful of announcements at today’s Nintendo Direct Mini, especially since it was more of a partner showcase than a first-party direct. Therefore, everyone who went in knew there would be no news on Breath of the Wild 2, any Metroid Prime remakes, or anything along those lines. Still, the company managed to delight viewers with things announced in the Direct, including confirming several new games coming to Switch later this year and into 2023.

There have been many intriguing announcements here, not least the confirmation that three hugely popular Persona series games – namely Persona 5 Royal, Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable – would be coming to Switch. Persona 5 Royal in particular was a welcome revelation for fans of the series. While it was already known that the game would migrate from its origins on PlayStation to the October 21st release on Xbox and PC, the Nintendo Switch was conspicuously missing from the list of platforms until today. Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable don’t currently have any release dates, but it’s promised that more information will be “coming soon”.

Other notable news from Direct included a release date for Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, more information on Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak – as well as a roadmap for free updates in the base game – and the unveiling of a demo for Live’s upcoming HD 2D remake A Live, which will contain the opening stages of three chapters. To the relief of fans, Persona 5 Royal and more are coming to Nintendo Switch
