Robert Thomas Woods is a name to be reckoned with in the NFL world. The talented wide receiver played college football at USC, where he impressed everyone with his performances. As a result, he was recognized as a consensus All-American. Robert was eventually drafted by the Bills in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
The 6-foot-tall WR, after spending a few years with the Bills, joined the Los Angeles Rams in 2017, where he quickly established himself. However, in 2021, Robert’s season was cut short after tearing his cruciate ligament in training.
“We thought Robert Woods was irreplaceable”: ESPN’s Louis Riddick
Before his injury, Woods had 45 catches and 556 yards with 5 touchdowns in 9 games he played last season. He was replaced on the team by Odell Beckham Jr. and the rest, as they say, is history. Odell went nowhere while he was with the Browns, but things changed dramatically the moment he started performing for the Rams post-transfer.
OBJ played a pivotal role in guiding the Rams to several key wins, eventually winning the Super Bowl. After that, there was speculation about what’s in store for Robert, and according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the Tennessee Titans are poised to take him on from the Rams.
In exchange, the Rams get a 2023 sixth-round from the Titans. Following the release of Julio Jones, the Titans were looking for a reliable WR and it’s fair to say they did a good job. ESPN’s Louis Riddick also took to Twitter to heap praise on Robert.
“Robert Woods had missed 1 game/1 start in the 3 seasons prior to his injury in November 21. He was considered an irreplaceable guy because he was so important to the Rams on the field and in the locker room. Rehab on course. Trade is good for Tenneplease refer,” he wrote.
It will be interesting to see how Robert fares for his new franchise in the upcoming season.
