The ’90s TV sitcom “Martin” recently passed the 30th anniversary milestone of its television debut. To show her appreciation to all fans of the show, actress Tisha Campbell uploaded a clip from her interview with Sway In the Morning to Instagram.
She captioned her post: “I can’t believe it! We are so thankful and thankful that you are staying with us every 30 years!! Always a big thank you to @swayuniverse and @swayinthemorning for a great time!”
In the clip, Campbell discussed the show’s run and revealed that she only recently started seeing her beloved character Gina Waters-Payne on the popular sitcom.
“In the last three years I’ve started watching it and I watch it and it’s so funny, it’s a really fun show!” Campell said.
The show’s enduring popularity came as a shock to Campbell, who explained where her mindset was at the time she made the show compared to where she is now years later.
She said: “I realized you know you’re in this and you’re just trying to support your family. That’s our motivation, we don’t think about it.” She continued, “They sit back and look at it many years later and people still enjoy it.”
The clip, posted to Instagram, also gave fans additional knowledge of how the jokes came to life on set.
“Most of the jokes, the euphemisms, were inside jokes for the cast, it was all inside jokes,” Campbell explained.
Campbell noted how genuine the cast’s reactions were when their on-screen love interest, Martin Lawrence, starred as his other two characters, Jerome and Sheneneh.
“Martin would never let us watch Jerome get dressed, he would never let us see Sheneneh. So it was always a shock. He wanted us to be shocked and have a real reaction.”
Martin is an iconic show that has been around for decades and is still loved by many.
