These races can get pretty brutal. During a race, you will want to accelerate forward and move around different obstacles. You have your archery ability while riding and can use it to slow down other riders or even make them fall off the mount. You have a limited number of arrows while racing and can collect more by grabbing the arrows hanging around the track. With all of that in mind, you’ll want to pay attention to some tips to help you through.

The game doesn’t tell you what to do when you start a race. Here’s all you need to know. Press X to increase speed, press O to decrease speed and press square to increase damage. You can also use your spear to attack the riders next to you. Use the R1 button to attack. Normal bow controls. Press L2 to aim and R2 to shoot an arrow. Pressing R2 without aiming will make you use an ability.

Pay attention to your ammo

You only get so many arrows and if you shoot them out unnecessarily you will run out of them quickly. Pay attention to your arrow supplies and make sure to get reloaded ammo whenever you pass them. If another racer takes the loaded arrow before you do, it will disappear and vice versa. Try to push other races aside to get ammo. This will allow you to get more ammo and prevent other races from being able to target you.

During the race you can also get different types of arrows. These can be extremely helpful if you choose the right type. You have access to the Shock and Stun arrows. Stun arrows slow the target while Shock arrows stop them in their path. You also get access to mines and speed boosts.

Continue to dodge or catch yourself

There is a way to know if you are about to be hit by an arrow. The indicator that blinks naturally when you are about to get hit will start flashing rapidly. When this happens, be sure to tap the square button to dodge or you will be knocked down on your mount. If this happens enough, you will fall off your mount. If you end up getting hit, remember to press R2 as quickly as possible to pull you back to your rack. This will also slow you down. Make sure to hit X as soon as possible to get your speed back.
