Time for another Mobius-like video game for PC called XTAL

Brilliant French artist Jean “Moebius” Giraud had one of the most recognizable styles of art around, and while his work has inspired video games for decades –including those he worked on directly– few could truly look like one of his illustrations brought to life.
We got one last year with the award sableand now someone else is calling XTAL (You could also count Pixeljunk Raider when you’re feeling generous). With a name that could have you think of a classic Aphex Twin track, XTAL is billed by its developers as “a stylish blend of action and exploration with a fast-paced combat system that combines TPS, Hack ‘n’ Slash, and Bullet Hell elements with a vibrant art style inspired by French comics”. .
(Yes, I know Moebius isn’t the only artist with a “French comic” style, as this glosses over the hugely influential work of the likes of Jean-Claude Mézières, but this clearly leads directly to Moebius’ own unique look.) .
Apologies to everyone who has read this far and is still reads this as “Morbius”but it’s not my fault the internet fried your brain.
Here is the game’s trailer, with a synopsis of the storyline as follows: “A distant past echoes through the planet Syro as its shattered landscapes are corrupted by a mysterious force. As a Seeker, you will use a lost technology to go into battle and explore a vast, awe-inspiring world.”
Looks good! The game is developed by True Colors, an indie studio based in Turin, Italy. Note that while this trailer looks impressive, the game is still standing very early in development. However, to make ends meet, they were share a lot of progress work on their Twitter accountincluding my favorite type of pre-release content: concept art.

XTAL coming to Steam… after all, given what I said above, it’s no surprise that there isn’t even a tentative release date accompanies his new Steam page.
