Timberwolves vs. Thunder predictions and odds (Count on Thunder as the home underdog)

Minnesota has already beaten Oklahoma City twice this season and is aiming for third place when the 34-29 Timberwolves take on the 20-42 Thunder at 8:00 p.m. EST tonight.

The Timberwolves are on the rise, winning 10 of their previous 14 and covering the spread in nine of them. Oklahoma City, meanwhile, has won two of three and is 5-2-1 against the spread (ATS) over the last eight.

The Thunder played hard against Minnesota in the first matchup, losing by eight but being decimated by 30 in the second. Which Oklahoma City team will show up and where’s the value?

Let’s take a look at the chances courtesy of WynnBET:

Spread

money line:

In total:

Anthony Edwards will miss today’s competition and his absence looms large against a Thunder squad who, despite their overall record, are the second best spread bet across the league this season. Oklahoma City sits at 37-21-4 ATS this year, just behind Memphis, and is quietly laying a strong foundation with Josh Giddey showing up to pair with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

The Thunder are downright terrible offensively. They are 30th in the NBA in offensive standings in their last 15 games. There are only 30 teams, so being 30th is pretty, pretty, pretty bad.

but, they have become a threat on defense and finished 3rd in defensive standings at the same distance. Now of course because we can’t have nice things Giddey is injured and will probably miss tonight. But Shai recently returned from an injury and picked up right where he left off. In the four games he’s played since his return, the stud point guard averaged 33.5 points, 6.3 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 1.75 steals per game. This will play.

When those teams met in Oklahoma City in January, the Timberwolves were favored by five. They won at 30 but the Thunder have only improved and now Edwards is out. Why is the line up to 9.5? I think this is an overreaction to the Minnesota win and supports the Thunder to move up to 37-20-4 ATS as an underdog.

Choice: Thunder +9.5
