Tim Burton’s “Wednesday” is set to debut at Lucca Comic Con in Europe

Tim Burton’s “Wednesday” series, starring Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, will have its European premiere in Italy at Lucca Comics & Games, with Burton attending the launch at Europe’s largest geek gathering.

Lucca Comics – an immersive cross-media event dedicated to pop culture, cosplay and comics taking place in the medieval Tuscan city of Lucca – has been chosen by Netflix as the venue for the European reveal of the first “Wednesday” episode on October 27th. 31

Burton executive produced and directed four of the series’ eight episodes, with Gandja Monteiro and James Marshall serving as additional directors. “Wednesday” is produced by MGM Television for Netflix.

Netflix will release all of its “Wednesday” episodes on November 23, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving in the US.

In the series, Wednesday attends Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her newfound psychic abilities and solve a murder mystery tied to the Addams family’s past.

“Wednesday is currently a teenager and we have never seen her as a teenager before,” Ortega said in a statement. “Their scathing, snide remarks might not sound all that charming coming from someone who probably should know better than a 10-year-old girl. That was a balancing act. We didn’t want to make her sound like any other teenage girl, but we didn’t want to make her too ignorant either. And we’ve never seen her on screen that often.”

Disney+ will also have a strong presence in Lucca, where they will launch two Lucasfilm projects with talent in tow.

On October 30th, Andor stars Denise Gough and Kyle Soller head to Lucca to promote the series Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which explores the Star Wars galaxy from a new perspective and is currently streaming one episode per week on Disney+.

On November 1st, “Willow” cast members Amar Chadha-Patel, Erin Kellyman and Ellie Bamber will unveil exclusive footage from the epic fantasy series, which serves as a sequel to the 1988 fantasy film of the same name, which premieres November 30th on Disney+ debuted. The “Willow” talents will also join the Lucca Comics audience for a Q&A session.

Lucca Comics, which is increasingly positioning itself as one of the top events in Europe to release content from streamers, broadcasters and film studios, will take place from October 28th to November. 1.
