TikToker says Walmart was promoted to manager with many signs of discipline

A Walmart and TikToker employee said that one of her colleagues was promoted despite having “10 points, 5 writes up and 3 complaints.”

In a TikTok posted on January 30, TikToker @fuxesp and a friend reenacted a scene where a Walmart employee was “appointed as team leader” despite multiple disciplinary violations against them. Video set to audio featuring actor Angus Cloud HappinessIts voice says, “Are you confused? I’m fucking confused” and has received over 235,000 views.

@fuxesp commented on the video saying she works as a “regular cashier” and not a team leader. In the video’s caption, @fuxesp wrote that the video was just a joke. She reiterated that to the Daily Dot in an Instagram message, but said it was based on the recent situation at work.

“We had a really good captain recently and she left us. Her replacement had a lot of complaints, people with disrespected outfits. And even minors are overworked,” TikToker told Daily Dot. She said that the new leader inspired TikTok.

Walmart employees also explained that “points are like strikes.” They are used to document violations of the attendance policy.

“You get points for calling out or being late,” she says. “Usually those who exceed 5 will have their contracts terminated.”

Video commenters shared their experiences with the Walmart points system.

“I just got fired for having 29 and a half,” commented @securityguyblake.

“The bias is real,” @bebejoanna94 wrote.

“When I asked for a raise, they said I got 5 points and got fired,” explained @soggytoast428. “But others have more than 5 people and still work there to this day.”

The Daily Dot has reached out to Walmart via email.
