Three barbaric builds that rip and tear apart

With each upcoming season of Diablo IV If you need a new character, you will probably build a barbarian or two. For one, they’re very straightforward, and while they’re certainly versatile, it’s often easier to get started with them and just start wrecking things.

But whether you want to experiment with barbarians every now and then or prefer to lead the class, it’s a good idea to have a blueprint or two to come up with a straightforward build that will get you to level 50. Here are three such builds for your consideration.

Whirlwind Barbarian

It’s time to become a martial force of destruction. The Whirlwind Barbarian is an absolute classic and allows you to reliably destroy squadrons of enemies.

Depending on your specific playstyle and the loot you have equipped, certain skills might earn more skill points than others. A Whirlwind Barbarian is always a valuable asset in a party, but if you’re playing solo, this is a great, no-fuss single-destruction option.

Whirlwind Barbarian Build: Levels 1-15

  • Lunging Strike > Improved Lunging Strike > Combat Lunging Strike
  • Whirlwind > Improved Whirlwind > Enraged Whirlwind
  • Rally > Improved Rally > Tactical Rally
  • Warcry > Improved Warcry > Power Warcry
  • Leap > Advanced Leap > Power Leap

Whirlwind Barbarian Build: Levels 16-50

You’ll want it for your next few levels Invest more points in Whirlwind. Max this skill to a full 5/5 ranks. Then begin to acquire the following skills:

  • Pit Fighter > Hamstring
  • Call of the Elders > First Call of the Elders > Highest Call of the Elders
  • clumsy
  • Unbridled anger

Once you’ve gained these skills, consider investing more ranks in the following if you haven’t already:

  • collective call
  • Booming Voice and Raid Leader
  • clumsy
  • Pit Fighter, No Mercy, Thick Skin and Counteroffensive

Bleed Barbarian Build

Danger some suitably violent music, it’s time to make things bleed. Not only will you hit hard as a barbarian, but this build also maintains your damage through the bleed status.

The Bleed Barbarian is a great addition to a party, as the focus on bled enemies benefits everyone you play with. As with any other barbarian build, you’re still a virtually unstoppable force, but if you want to do that while offering a bit more utility, this is a good build to mess with.

Bleeding Barbarian: Levels 1-15

  • Lunging Strike > Improved Lunging Strike > Combat Lunging Strike
  • Rend > Enhanced Rend > Furious Rend
  • Rally > Improved Rally > Tactical Rally
  • Imposing Presence > Combat Power
  • Warcry > Improved Warcry > Power Warcry

Bleed Barbarian Build: Levels 16-50

In your next levels, invest skill points in Rend until the maximum is reached. Then throw more points into Martial Vigor and max those out too. Then purchase the following:

  • Attack > Improved Attack > Mighty Attack
  • Aggressive Resistance > Extended Rage
  • booming voice
  • Hamstring > Cut to the bone
  • Wrath of the Berserker > Prime Wrath of the Berserker > Supreme Wrath of the Berserker
  • Pit Fighter > Kill Strike
  • killing blow

Once you’ve earned these, consider investing more ranks in the following skills:

  • Paralyze
  • Cut to the bone
  • pit fighter
  • killing blow
  • Productive Anger
  • booming voice

Upheaval barbarian

This Upheaval Barbarian takes Upheaval from the second skill set and nicely combines many of the things that work well with Whirlwind and Bleed.

The Upheaval Barbarian is a pretty good choice for anyone who spends time both in and out of a group, as you have great strength and power on your own, but are also able to send opponents into the Bleeding state to make things easier to make friendlies take away.

Upheaval Barbarian Build: Levels 1-15

  • Flay > Improved Flay > Battle Flay
  • Break > Extended Break > Angry Break
  • Rally > Improved Rally > Tactical Rally
  • Warcry > Improved Warcry > Power Warcry
  • Leap > Advanced Leap > Power Leap

Upheaval Barbarian Build: Levels 16-50

First, max out your Upheaval ability, followed by Warcry. Then grab this:

  • Booming Voice > Raid Leader
  • Paralyze
  • Aggressive Resistance > Extended Rage
  • Pit Fighter > No Mercy
  • thick skin
  • clumsy
  • Call of the Elders > First Call of the Elders > Highest Call of the Elders
  • Unbridled anger

Invest your remaining points on the road to 50 to complete the following skills:

  • booming voice
  • raid leader
  • Productive Anger
  • pit fighter
  • No mercy
  • clumsy

Capable of being an unstoppable, violent force, the Barbarian is valuable in any party and vicious enough to wipe out entire rooms full of enemies. The frameworks suggested above are great platforms to build on to achieve even better end-game performance.
