The Cleveland Browns have signed quarterback Josh Rosen to a one-year deal. That one stat won’t make Browns fans happy.
After a successful tenure at UCLA, quarterback Josh Rosen was picked 10th overall by the Arizona Cardinals. After one season, Rosen was traded to the Miami Dolphins and has bounced from team to team ever since. Now he will join his sixth team in five years.
According to ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter, Rosen is signing a one-year deal with the Cleveland Browns. Schefter reported earlier in the day he and AJ McCarron coached for the team.
There’s one statistic that won’t exactly wow youhe Browns fanbase. Since 2019, Rosen has thrown just one touchdown pass, that’s as many as running back Derrick Henry, and wide receivers DeAndre Hopkins, Deebo Samuel, Julian Edelman, and Jarvis Landry have in that span, according to CBS sports.
As of 2019, Josh Rosen has had as many touchdown passes as Derrick Henry
While it’s not exactly ideal, it’s worth noting that Rosen hasn’t had many starting options since the Cardinals traded him after picking Kyler Murray first in 2019.
Rosen started in three of six games in his only season with the Dolphins, completing 53.2 percent of his passes for 567 yards, one touchdown and five interceptions.
The quarterback didn’t play a single game during the 2020 season while he was a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Francisco 49ers. But in 2021, Rosen signed with the Atlanta Falcons and appeared in four games, throwing for 19 yards and two interceptions while completing 2 of 11 pass attempts.
With the addition of Rosen, the Browns now have four quarterbacks on the depth chart. However, with Deshaun Watson being suspended for violating NFL guidelines on personal conduct, the team sought to deepen the position behind Jacoby Brissett. Hence the signing of roses.
