‘This kid is mentally retarded’: Fans mock Rolly Romero and claim Shakur Stevenson is ‘the most boring fighter in boxing history’

Rolly Romero, the rising boxing sensation, made headlines recently when he took aim at fellow boxer Shakur Stevenson. In a scathing interview, Romero called Stevenson the “most boring fighter in boxing history” and said he wasn’t interested in fighting him.

Rolly Romero mocked Shakur Stevenson

Known for his outspoken manner and brash personality, Romero has never been one to shy away from controversy. In the interview, he made it clear that he has no respect for Stevenson and that he doesn’t think he’s worthy of sharing the ring with him.

“Shakur Stevenson is the most boring fighter in boxing history,” said Romero. “He has no power, no charisma and no excitement. Why should I waste my time fighting him?”

Romero went on to say that he believes he is the future of boxing. The Las Vegas native also claimed he has no interest in fighting anyone who doesn’t pose a real challenge to him.

Romero described himself as the “best fighter in the world”. The best always want to fight against the best. Because of this, Romero refuses to ally with Stevenson. Romero made it clear that Stevenson can never be the best in his eyes.

Stevenson held the WBO featherweight title from 2019-2020 and the WBO super featherweight title from 2021-2022. The question hangs in the air as to how Stevenson can prove himself to Romero.

That’s probably why Shakur hasn’t responded to Romero’s comments yet. However, many fans and commentators were quick to criticize Romero for his harsh words and irreverent attitude.

Fans immediately mocked Romero

The fans, on the other hand, went at Romero with all guns. Some of them brutally mocked the former WBA interim lightweight champion. Some of them even called him “mentally retarded”. While some pointed out that Shakur is more exciting than Romero.

Despite the controversy surrounding his statements, Romero remains firmly convinced that he is the best fighter alive and that he will continue to prove it in the ring. Whether he and Stevenson will ever face off remains to be seen.

A few days ago, Gervonta Davis put Stevenson on his next boxer hit list. So it’s not hard to understand the anger of the fans. However, this can also be a potential mind game on Romero’s part. This bad-mouthing can even lead to a fight later. And when that happens, boxing fans around the world will likely be anxiously awaiting the fight.
