This Atlanta Braves trade has aged terribly

The Braves spared no money in exchange for Mark Teixeira immediately, but the more time passed, the more they realized their mistake.

The 2007 season was supposed to be a promising one for the Braves, and by deadline, Atlanta seems to be just a block away from making a run in the NL East.

So they added that player to former Texas Rangers first team player Mark Teixeira. It’s not his own fault, as Teixeira dropped the ball during his time with the Braves.

The last few months of the season, Teixeira hit 17 goals at home with a ridiculous OPS. However, despite all of that, it still wasn’t enough to get the Braves into post-season.

Courage in exchange for Mark Teixeira’s horribly aged

While Teixeira was an outstanding player, he was certainly unknown during his time in Atlanta. If anything, Rangers’ return to said commercial is something the Braves will regret.

The Braves traded Elvis Andrus, Neftalí Feliz, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Matt Harrison and Beau Jones to Rangers in the deal. It is… a lot of players and potential capital, but it is imperative to have a player like Teixeira on the deadline.

Unfortunately, Andrus became a longtime Ranger, and was a key member of several playoffs. Saltalamacchia has been a legal starter, both in Texas and elsewhere, for more than a decade. Feliz has become one of the best closes in the game, at least for a while. Heck, Harrison even formed an All-Star team.

The following season, the Braves traded Teixeira for the Angels for Casey Kotchman and Stephen Marek. It’s disgusting.

Consider this trade a clear win for Rangers, despite the fact that it looked pretty favorable for Atlanta at the time. 2007 seemed like a long time ago, but rival GMs took note of the number of players Atlanta was sending in in exchange for Teixeira. This Atlanta Braves trade has aged terribly
