This 3-team trade by Donovan Mitchell would break the association

Donovan Mitchell was made available by the Utah Jazz a month ago. If there is little movement, every trade rumor is worth reporting.

Forget a trade rumor – what about a three-team trade rumor?

The Knicks, Jazz and Lakers have provided us with this juicy gossip.

Per Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype, the following trade was discussed, involving the likes of Russell Westbrook, Donovan Mitchell and Patrick Beverley. It is currently unknown if there is traction:

The Lakers get rid of Westbrook and shake up the roster in one of LeBron James’ final seasons. Get the curtsy mitchell, the star they’ve been looking for all this time. And the Jazz is certainly getting a litany of draft picks bigger than what they got for Rudy Gobert. Everyone wins.

For Utah, the acquisition of Russell Westbrook along with dealing with Mitchell boosts their returns as the Lakers have struggled to find a potential suitor for Brodi.

The only thing stopping such a deal would be (probably) Utah given how much they want in exchange for Mitchell alone. Why complicate matters?

The Lakers may also have an ax to grind. Los Angeles doesn’t have much draft capital left, and they want to keep themselves in a decent position once LeBron retires. Dealing with Future Firsts down the line won’t help them rebuild.

The Knicks win the trade hands down. They don’t strip their roster for Mitchell, allowing them to compete for a high playoff spot in the west.
